Task

In the early years, the company only produced high quality vinegar for retail sale. A lot has happened since then: the company has has expanded continually and the product range has been extended to include ketchup, pasta - and BBQ - sauces, as well as mustard. The company needed a water treatment plant for a new production site and commissioned ATN with planning and manufacturing.

Targets/Challenges

  • Customer initially only wanted a softening plant
  • Vinegar and fruit acids are flavour carriers - Carbonates not removed by softening neutralise these flavour carriers which might lead to a considerable change in taste of the products
  • No softening but desalination - installation of a reverse osmosis plant
  • Chlorine in the public water supply is harmful to the reverse osmosis membranes - the addition of sodium bi-sulfite removes free chlorine
